Shabbona Lake State Park run set for July 4

The second annual Pokanoka’s Trail Run/Walk for Safe Passage will kick off at 8 a.m. Friday at Shabbona Lake State Park. The event will go on rain or shine.

There will be an 8-mile trail for runners and a 1.8-mile trail for walkers through the scenic state park.

Both are off-road trails on mowed paths.

Registration for runners is $30 and $10 for walkers. Register online at www.signmeup.com/99380. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers 19 and older and 18 and younger.
