Published: Wednesday, June 18, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

Jacob Delaney of DeKalb is helping to govern about 12,000 students who attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Delaney, a junior finance major, was appointed to the 2014-2015 Whitewater Student Government Executive Board as the senate speaker.

“WSG positions foster skills in problem solving, critical thinking and civic engagement,” adviser Jan Bilgen said in a news release.

WSG assesses and serves the needs of UW-Whitewater students by providing an open forum atmosphere as well as being a bridge between students and campus administration.
