2014 Girls Soccer All-Area team

FIRST TEAM

Maddie Frye

DeKalb, Sr., goalkeeper

This is the senior keeper’s second consecutive selection to the Daily-Chronicle’s All-Area team. Frye was the Northern Illinois Big 12 East co-Player of the Year and finished the campaign with 16 clean sheets.

Delaney Stryczek

Kaneland, Sr., defender

Stryczek had another successful season after being an all-area player last season. The senior was named conference co-Player of the Year and was a member of the Hampshire all-sectional team.

Kate Hickey

DeKalb, Sr., defender

Hickey was the sweeper and anchor of the Barb backline that only conceded one goal in conference play.

Emily Cook

Sycamore, Sr., defender

Cook was a big contributor to the Spartans and helped in the team’s 12 clean sheets. The senior defender was also named to the Northern Illinois Big 12 East all-conference team.

Janee Carlson

Sycamore, Jr., defender

After a successful season, Carlson will be the backbone of the Spartan backline next year. She was an all-conference performer in 2014.

Madison Jurcenko

Kaneland, Jr., midfielder

The All-Conference selection led the Knights with 13 assists and finished with 27 points for the season. 

Katherine Kohler

Sycamore, Sr., midfielder

The attacking midfielder was one of three Northern Illinois Big 12 East co-Players of the Year and finished the campaign with 21 goals and nine assists. Kohler also scored four hat tricks on the season.

Nicole Hebel

Genoa-Kingston, Jr., midfielder

Hebel was the biggest contributor for the Cogs all season and finished with 16 goals and eight assists. The central midfielder was deadly from set pieces and was named to the Big Northern all-conference team.

Lauren Paver

Hinckley-Big Rock, Sr., midfielder

Paver finished a very productive prep career with 13 goals and eight assists this season, and 47 goals and 35 assists for her career.

Morgan Beaty

DeKalb, Sr., forward

The Daily-Chronicle’s Player of the Year led the Barbs to their first sectional final in school history. Beaty finished with an area-best 24 goals and also dished out six assists.

Madison Spooner

Indian Creek, Jr., forward

Spooner had an impressive junior season as the striker notched 23 goals and nine assists in the T’wolves’ regional championship season. Spooner scored six of Indian Creek’s 11 match-winning goals.
