PONTIAC — A Pontiac man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison in the shooting deaths of his mother and brother.

The Pantagraph reports that 28-year-old Cody Hetherington pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of first-degree murder. Three other counts were dismissed.

Hetherington had been charged with four counts of first-degree murder for the August deaths of 57-year-old Jean Ann Corrice and 23-year-old Tyler R. Friant. Their bodies were found in a Pontiac motel room.

Hetherington suffered a severe head wound in an apparent suicide attempt.
