Kids Day at the Barn coming June 22

DeKALB – Kids will be able to learn how to work like blacksmiths and pet animals in the near future at the Glidden Homestead and Historical Center.

Kids Day At the Barn will be held from noon to 4 p.m. June 22 at the Glidden Homestead and Historical Center, 921 W. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb.

This program is part of “Year of the Barn,” which highlights the brick barn. Both the home and barn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to a news release.

Malta Mustangs 4-H Club will host a petting zoo. Blacksmith Club members Jeff Byerhoff and Marty O’Connor will also help children use clay and a wooden mallet on a wooden anvil for blacksmithing.
