A solo exhibition of midwestern landscapes by DeKalb artist Jay Paul Bell will be on display at Beloit College’s Wright Museum of Art from June 14 to July 24. The show will include 10 acrylic-on-canvas paintings and six Giclee prints.
A painting by Bell won the top Jurors’ Award at the 56th annual Beloit and Vicinity Exhibition in 2013, with a solo show during the 2014 Beloit and Vicinity.
The annual Beloit and Vicinity is a competition open to all artists residing in Wisconsin and neighboring states wishing to submit original paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, textiles, performance pieces and photographs for consideration by jurors.
Twenty-nine artworks by 24 regional artists were chosen by jurors for the 2014 57th annual Exhibition. They will be displayed in the Wright Museum’s Courtyard and North Galleries concurrent with Bell’s exhibition in the South Gallery.
The opening reception for both exhibitions will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday during which time the Jurors’ Award winner of a solo show in 2015 will be announced.
Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
