Who: DeKalb (27-7) vs. Barrington (26-11)
Where: Harry D. Jacobs High School, 2601 Bunker Hill Drive, Algonquin
When: 3 p.m. Saturday
How they got here: DeKalb beat Rockford Jefferson, 10-0, in Huntley Regional semifinal; beat Huntley, 3-0, in regional final; beat McHenry, 8-4, in Jacobs Sectional semifinal. Barrington beat Jacobs, 3-0, in Cary-Grove Regional semifinal; beat Cary-Grove, 10-0, in regional final; beat Rockton Hononegah, 2-0, in sectional semifinal.
Scouting the Fillies: Barrington has been a softball dynasty for the past 20 years under coach Perry Peterson. The Fillies have six appearances at the state finals since 2004, including a third-place finish last season. The DeKalb batters will have a tough task against Loyola-commit Keenan Dolezal, who has yet to be scored upon this postseason and has given up only six hits.
Outlook: Expect a low-scoring affair. DeKalb will need pitcher Katie Kowalski to be on her game, as she has been for the majority of the season. When her team needed her, she came up big in a sectional semifinal against McHenry, an 8-4 DeKalb win. The Barbs have gotten good production up and down the lineup throughout the postseason, but baserunners likely will be at a premium with Dolezal in the circle.
