Published: Thursday, June 5, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

The Friends of Barb City Manor will host a public cruise presentation at 2 p.m. Friday at Barb City Manor Retirement Home, 680 Haish Blvd., DeKalb.

Join Phyllis Carder and Steven Johnson of Carder Travel to learn more about a Mississippi River cruise planned for Sept. 12 to 20 on board the American Queen steamboat. The cruise is a fundraiser for the Friends of Barb City Manor. All proceeds will go toward purchasing new equipment for the facility.

The nine-day cruise provides a journey through America’s heartland. The trip begins with an overnight stay in St. Louis. On the voyage, travelers will discover the true inspiration behind Mark Twain’s beloved American classics in his hometown of Hannibal. Shore excursion stops include Dubuque, LaCrosse and Red Wing.

Enjoy a nightly five-course dinner prepared by award-winning chefs and top entertainers in the Grand Saloon.

The group price includes transfers from DeKalb to St. Louis, St. Paul to DeKalb, and trip cancellation insurance.

To RSVP for the presentation, call 815-756-8444.
