Roads near NIU to close Friday for police training

DeKALB — Drivers might want avoid the area near Northern Illinois University on Friday morning as local police will close roads for a full scale training exercise.

The following roads will be closed during the exercise from 8 to 11 a.m.: Lucinda Avenue west of Annie Glidden Road, Stadium Drive East north of Lot 15, Lincoln Drive North at Annie Glidden Road, Douglas Drive North west of Stadium Drive East, Grant Drive North west of Grant Drive East, New Residence Hall access road at Annie Glidden and Grant Drive extension west of NIU parking lot X.

Emergency personnel from Illinois State Police, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, DeKalb, Sycamore and Kishwaukee Hospital will participate in the exercise as part of The Agency Preparedness Program in Lincoln Hall's Lot 15, according to an NIU news release.

The Agency Preparedness Program is designed to help law enforcement agencies in Illinois to effectively respond to emergency situations. Review or renewal of a completed program is required by any participating agency on a 6-month basis, the news release states.
