Letter: State shouldn’t pay for Obama library

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 10:18 p.m. CDT

To the Editor:

A proposal is in the works for the State of Illinois to set aside $100 million to fund a presidential library for Barack Obama.

I am totally against this proposal for many reasons.

No. 1: The state of Illinois is broke and there are no funds available for such a project.

No. 2: Presidential libraries have historically been funded through private donations, not state funds. Barack Obama only seems to be good at campaigning and fundraising, so he should raise the funds for his library and leave the Illinois taxpayers alone.

And just a thought, let it be built in Hawaii. Wasn’t he born there?
