Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 4:56 p.m. CDT

Bring on the Mustangs.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the first Ford Mustang, and Mustangs will be a featured display at the Big Rock Historical Society Classic Car Show on Sunday at Plowman’s Park in Big Rock.

Cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles at the show must be model years 1989 or older, but all model years of Mustangs are welcome.

There is no admission charge for either vehicles or spectators at this family-friendly event. The Big Rock Historical Society will serve a 5B’s barbecue of pork chops or chicken from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., when the Lions will serve a strawberry shortcake dessert.

There will be train rides by the Prairie State Train Club. There will be vendors and a car corral of vehicles for sale, along with a 50/50 drawing and raffles. Big Rock Historical Society Museum and Big Rock Library will be open for tours and a book sale, and 3D Sound will play the oldies.

Vehicle registration is from 8 to 10:45 a.m., and the show is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trophy presentations begin at 3 p.m. For more information, email bbaie1@att.net or call 630-556-3573.
