American Legion plans Memorial Day activities

DeKALB – DeKalb’s American Legion post will hold two days of activities in honor of Memorial Day this weekend.

Locals are asked to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post No. 66, 1204 Fourth St., DeKalb.

Flags will be put on display on all veterans’ graves at 9:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb.

Lunch will be served, according to a news release.

Then residents will meet at the legion by 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the honor guard at all DeKalb area cemeteries. The honor guard schedule is as follows: 8 a.m. at Veterans Park, 8:15 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 8:40 a.m. at Malta Cemetery, 9:10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 9:25 a.m. at Kishwaukee River on the First Bridge, 9:40 a.m. at Congregational Church Cemetery, 10 a.m. at County Cemetery, 10:25 a.m. at Ohio Grove Cemetery, 10:50 a.m. at Cortland Cemetery, 11:20 a.m. at Afton Cemetery on Perry Road, and 11:40 a.m. at Seventh and Taylor Cemetery.
