SYCAMORE – Locals will need to get used to driving around parts of Bethany Road in Sycamore beginning Monday.

Bethany will be closed from Peace Road to Somonauk Road, and all of Aster Road will be closed as well starting Monday and continuing through the summer. Crews are set to begin construction work to widen Bethany to three lanes from Peace to Aster, according to a city of Sycamore news release.

Drivers will need to use a detour along Peace, Barber Greene and Somonauk roads to circumvent the closed portion of Bethany. Prairie Drive will remain open during the construction.

The city awarded a contract for the reconstruction of a portion of Bethany from 800 feet east of Peace to about 400 feet east of Aster, the news release states.
