CHICAGO — The number of illegal guns seized by Chicago police has passed the 2,000 mark so far this year.
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy is set to hold a weekly news conference Monday where the department will display some of the firearms that have been confiscated recently by officers.
The city says the department has seized its 2,000th firearm. Every year, the department says it seizes more illegal guns than any city police department in the United States.
Last year, the department seized more than 6,800 guns.
