Sycamore library director eyes job in Geneva

GENEVA – Sycamore Public Library Director Sarah Tobias is among the candidates for the top post at the Geneva Public Library.

After Geneva Library board members went into closed session at Thursday’s special meeting, Tobias said she was interested in Geneva because it served an area about double what Sycamore serves.

“That gives me an opportunity to grow in what I do,” Tobias said. “I’ve been a library director about 14 years, but I’ve been a librarian since 1992.”

Tobias said she has worked as a librarian in DeKalb, as well as the Chicago Public Library and McHenry Public Library. She started her career at the Barrington Public Library.

Geneva’s previous director, Matt Teske, resigned April 10, and Marilyn Boria was named interim director. Officials said they hope to have a new director by this summer. They are considering a pool of up to 40 candidates.
