DeKALB – Real estate tax bills were mailed to DeKalb County residents Friday, and payment is due June 5 for the first installment and Sept. 2 for the second installment.

DeKalb County Treasurer’s Office will collect almost $205 million, with school districts receiving about 57 percent of the money. DeKalb County, cities and villages, townships and park districts also will receive a portion.

Taxpayers may pay their taxes online with a direct debit from their bank account by visiting the county’s website, www.dekalbcounty.org. Taxpayers will be able to enter payments online up to 30 days before the date they want the payment to be deducted from their account, according to a DeKalb County Treasurer news release.

There is a 2.35 percent convenience fee for those who pay their real estate tax with a credit card, the release states.

Taxpayers receive one bill a year with two payment stubs. For information, call the DeKalb County Treasurer at 815-895-7112 or visit www.dekalbcounty.org.
