DeKALB – Tanzania Development Support will host its first yard sale fundraiser of 2014 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. May 16 and 17 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 615 N. First St. in DeKalb.

The new location offers an indoor setting with three large rooms that will be filled with an impressive array of large and small items looking to be repurposed. Buyers will find home furnishings, sporting goods, clothing, electronics, small appliances, books and vintage memorabilia.

TDS is seeking volunteers to help staff rooms and help with set-up and take-down. Volunteers with trucks or vans are also needed to transport items to the church on Thursday, May 15. To volunteer, contact Brandi Smith at bsmith@tdsnfp.org.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to support TDS’s mission of improving the quality of life of youth, especially girls, in the Mara region of Tanzania by supporting primary and secondary school improvements. The current project is the construction of a library and community resource center in Nyegina, Tanzania. Additional information is available at www.tdsnfp.org.

Donations of salable items are welcome and appreciated. Items can be dropped off before the sale dates by calling Jeanine at 815-901-0393 to schedule a time. Arrangements can also be made for donations to be picked up.
