The Kaneland girls track and field team finished second at the Kane County Meet with 92 points on Friday in Maple Park. West Aurora won with 137.
The Knights’ Lauren Zick won the 200-meter dash in 12.81 seconds, and also took first in the 400 in 25.95.
Game ends in tie: The game between Genoa-Kingston and Rockford Christian ended in an 11-all tie as the game was suspended because of darkness. G-K’s Brady Huffman struck out nine and allowed one earned run in five innings. The Cogs are 7-8-1 overall and 3-2-1 in Big Northern East play.
Barbs pick up conference win: At Yorkville, DeKalb defeated the host Foxes, 5-0, in a Northern Illinois Big 12 East match. The Barbs improved to 9-3-2 and 4-0-2 in the NI Big 12 East.
Genoa-Kingston wins Rocket Relays: At Richmond, the Cogs won the invite for the fourth straight year with 91 points. The Cogs’ relays and the discus, long jump and 800 took first places.
Royals compete at Seneca: Hinckley-Big Rock’s Zach McNanna won the 300 hurdles (44.29), was third in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the high jump. T.J. Gavin was second in the 110 hurdles (17.86) and third in the 300 hurdles.
Genoa-Kingston fourth at Rocket Relays: At Richmond, the Cogs finished in fourth place with 68 points.
Royals second at Seneca: At a meet in Seneca, Hinckley-Big Rock’s Audrey Harrod won the 800 (2:26.04) and 1,600 (5:39.27). Kristen Clark won the 400 (64.84). Courtney Carls won the long jump (15-10). The Royals finished second in the six-team meet.
Timberwolves sixth at meet: At Forreston, Indian Creek finished sixth with 52 points. Indian Creek’s Chantel Kyler won the high jump, securing the lone win for the Timberwolves.
