MALTA - Power has been restored at Kishwaukee College and the campus will reopen at 5 p.m.

Any classes scheduled to begin after that time will go on as scheduled. The McNulty Irish Dancers will also be performing in the theater at 7 p.m. as scheduled.

A power outage closed the community college at about 11:50 p.m. as ComEd crews worked to restore power to a portion of the Malta campus.

A fire at the top of a utility pole near Malta Road and Lincoln Highway cut power to 22 customers, ComEd spokesman Paul Callighan said. Power had been restored to all customers by 1:20 p.m., and crews were working to replace the burnt pole and make permanent wire repairs.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire.
