DeKALB – Park district board members are planning a series of closed session meetings as part of the interview process as they search for a new executive director.

Today and Saturday, board members will interview each of the four finalists for the job, who have been identified by search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates.

After the last interviews are completed in a closed meeting Saturday, board members will be asked to eliminate one of the four candidates, said Keith Frankland, senior associate with the search firm. More in-depth interviews with the three remaining candidates will take place Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, including closed-session dinner meetings with each of the three candidates, Frankland said.

On May 3, another closed session will be held, and park board members will be asked to discuss the candidates and reach a consensus on which person they think would be the best fit. After that, the search firm will conduct a background check, with an employment offer to follow, Frankland said.
