Kowalski homers, earns ‘W’

Katie Kowalski went 2 for 4 at the plate – picking up her first career home run – and earned the win in the circle for the DeKalb softball team in an 8-5 win over Hindsale Central on Friday in Hinsdale.

Kowalski improved to 3-1 on the season. Morgan Newport finished 4 for 4 for the Barbs (7-3).

The score was tied at 5 after five innings before the Barbs pushed through two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh.

T’wolves win LTC game: Indian Creek defeated Paw Paw, 17-3.

BASEBALL

T’wolves remain unbeaten: Tim Sommerfeld was 4 for 5 with a double and a triple for Indian Creek in an 11-4 win over Paw Paw. Brock Meyers finished 2 for 3.

The Timberwolves are 4-0.

BOYS TRACK

Sycamore wins Huntley invite: Sycamore edged second-place Burlington Central, 113-105, at the eight-team Huntley Invitational.

Sycamore’s Mark Stice won the 3,200 (10:25.2). Alex Handel won the 800 (2:02.4) and Evan Short won the shot put (51-0).

SOFTBALL

Hawks drop nonconference game: Hiawatha lost, 8-5, to Belvidere in a nonconference game on the road.

Royals lose LTC game: Hinckley-Big Rock lost to Newark, 22-1, in five innings in a Little Ten Conference game.

GIRLS SOCCER

Timberwolves win nonconference match: Indian Creek defeated Spring Valley Hall, 11-0, in a nonconference match in Waterman.
