Car hits house near DeKalb
DeKALB – Bryan and Holly Kuhn were at their home at 8442 Rich Road outside DeKalb around 6 p.m. Wednesday when they heard squealing tires, followed by a loud boom.
It was the sound of a Chrysler 300 sedan crashing into their house.
“I never expected someone to drive into the side of my house,” Bryan Kuhn said. “Call me naive.”
Behind the wheel was a 17-year-old boy without a license. DeKalb County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Burgh said the boy was trying to turn around in Kuhn’s driveway when he pressed the gas instead of the brake. He was released to his mother and referred to juvenile court.
No one was injured in the crash, which caused a crack in the foundation of the Kuhns’ home. A DeKalb County building inspector deemed it structurally sound.
Dimitri Stephen, 22, of the 1000 block of Aspen Court in DeKalb, was charged with attempted obstruction of justice at the scene. Police said he tried to mislead them about who was driving.
