Spartans belt 3 homers in win over Whips

Nathan Haacker, Michael Swanberg and Cooper Vinz all had home runs for the Sycamore baseball team in a 13-3, six-inning win over Hampshire on Wednesday in Hampshire.

“It was nice to see our bats get moving today,” Sycamore coach Jason Cavanaugh said. “It’s the first time we’ve really swung the bats very well this year. Part of that’s due to the quality of the pitching we’ve really been facing through our first four games.”

Brett Weaver was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out four in six innings. Weaver’s effort was the Spartans’ first complete game of the season.

Sycamore will play today at Rockford Guilford.
