DeKALB — Police are searching for eight or nine people who allegedly helped a 21-year-old DeKalb man attack a man inside a DeKalb apartment early Monday morning, authorities said.

Dorian McGee, of the 200 block of Bent Grass Circle, was charged with home invasion, criminal damage to property and resisting a police officer, in connection with the attack about 12:07 a.m. Monday, court records show. If convicted of the most serious crime, home invasion, he would face between six and 30 years in prison.

McGee's girlfriend's wallet was stolen Sunday, so McGee and a group of eight or nine people went to the apartment of those he believed were involved in the theft on the 900 block of Ridge Drive in DeKalb, court records show. A suspect hit a man in the forehead with a blunt object during the fight and more than $300 in damage was caused to a 50-inch TV and an Xbox system, court records show.

DeKalb police later found McGee in the 1000 block of Ridge Drive. McGee wrestled with officers after being detained and ran from them, so police deployed a Taser stun gun, court records show.

McGee remained in jail Monday unable to post 10 percent of his $50,000 bond. He is next due in court April 23.
