SYCAMORE – A 22-year-old DeKalb will serve four months’ probation for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, court records show.

Jose Ortega, of the 100 block of South Seventh Street, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual criminal abuse Tuesday in exchange for prosecutors agreeing to drop an additional charge of the same offense.

DeKalb police said Ortega had sex with the teenager Nov. 12 and Nov. 14. Police were alerted when the victim came to the police station with Ortega, and both admitted to the relationship, court records show.

Ortega also was sentenced to six months in jail, but was released this week after being given credit for time served and good behavior. He must complete a sex offender evaluation by Sept. 30. Ortega was ordered not to have any contact with the girl, court records show.
