Loans available for U of I students

The Elmberg Student Loan Program offers student loans to this year’s DeKalb County high school graduates or former graduates who are planning to attend or are currently attending the University of Illinois and who will be enrolling or are enrolled in the College of ACES or the College of Education.

The funds available to be loaned to a student(s) under the 2014 program will be a maximum total of $10,000.

Basic eligibility requirements for the program participation are as follows:

1. Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate program within the University of Illinois College of ACES or College of Education.

2. No student loans will be made to any student until he/she is legally enrolled in the University of Illinois.

3. A student who receives a loan under the 2014 program may reapply for an additional loan(s) during their four-year undergraduate program.

4. Loans will be made to applicant(s) based on financial need as determined by the Administrative Committee and academic standing.

Those interested should contact Regional Superintendent Amanda Christensen Morrison, DeKalb County Regional Office of Education, 2500 N. Annie Glidden Road, Suite C, DeKalb, IL 60115 by May 1. The phone number is 815-217-0460. Forms for making application will be forwarded to interested students after they have notified the Regional Office of their intention to enroll at the University of Illinois.
