Prep roundup: Kaneland girls track fifth at Hononegah

The Kaneland girls track team finished in fifth place Saturday at the Hononegah Invite in Rockton.

The Knights’ 4x400-meter relay team won the event in 4 minutes, 14.94 seconds while the 4x200 relay team finished second.

Senior Lauren Zick took third in the 55 dash in 7.51 seconds and was second in the 200, finishing in 26.87. Sophomore Brianna Bower placed fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:46. Christina Delach finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches as the Knights finished with 50 points. West Aurora led the field with 87 points.

DeKalb senior Kelsey Schrader finished seventh in the 1,600. Schrader’s finished helpd the Barbs finish 23rd with three points.

Indian Creek competes in Sterling: The Indian Creek boys and girls track teams competed at the Sauk Valley Gold Medal Classic in Sterling.

The Timberwolves’ Chantel Kyler was second in the 400-meter dash, won the high jump and was third in the triple jump.

IC’s Emily Schilling was runner-up in the 800, and won the 1,600.

Eric Sorbel had the top finish for the boys’ team with an eighth-place showing in the 400.
