Kish women’s hoops on to national tournament

The Kishwaukee College women’s basketball team steamrolled Waubonsee, 79-53, Saturday in the NJCAA Division II Region IV Tournament at Elgin Community College.

The Kougars (28-5) finished fourth in last year’s national tournament.

Kishwaukee sophomore guard Tami Morice finished with 30 points and was named the Region IV Tournament MVP.

Kishwaukee freshman guard Bria Guard added 18 points.

Starting inside player Ashanti Davis became ill before the game and sat on the bench for 40 minutes and Casey Cox, a center, fouled out with 16 minutes left in the second half.

The national tournament will run from March 18 through 22 at Johnston Community College in Overland Park, Kan.
