Bailey Gilbert

Sycamore, junior, guard

Gilbert, the Daily Chronicle Player of the Year, was the area’s top scorer at 17.2 points a game, shooting an astounding 41 percent from 3-point range. She was the Northern Illinois Big 12 East MVP, and took second in the Class 3A Three-Point Showdown at the state tournament.

Brittney Patrick

DeKalb, sophomore, guard

Patrick made the Barbs’ offense go. Just a sophomore, she averaged 11.6 points and 4.1 assists.

Madelyne Johnson

DeKalb, junior, forward

Johnson led the NI Big 12 East champion Barbs with 12.4 points a game and eight rebounds a contest. With one season left, she’ll be one of the area’s best players again next year.

Josie Diehl

Indian Creek, sophomore, forward

Diehl averaged 10.8 points a game and 9.7 rebounds, helping the Timberwolves to a regional title for the first time since 1998.

Jacqueline Madden

Hinckley-Big Rock, junior, guard

Madden averaged 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 4.3 steals a game while helping the Royals to their eighth consecutive regional title and fourth sectional championship in the last six years.
