Cold temperatures, some snow expected for Illinois

CHICAGO – The bitter winter weather is continuing.

Much of Illinois is expected to stay cold this week. In Rockford in Northern Illinois, the average temperature of 14.6 degrees has made this winter the third coldest on record. And the 11 degrees below zero reading that was recorded Monday morning set a record for the city.

Tuesday's high is expected to be 20 and Wednesday the temperature could climb to 24 with a chance of snow.

Sunday's high of 7 also set a record in Moline. On Tuesday and Wednesday the high is expected to climb into the 20s with a chance of light snow.

In Carbondale in Southern Illinois, Monday's high is expected to be 19 degrees.
