Somonauk Library hosts writers group

Published: Monday, March 3, 2014 11:28 a.m. CDT

Interested in writing fiction and non-fiction? Anyone of high school age or older is invited to join the Writers Group at 3:30 p.m. Mondays at Somonauk Public Library, 700 E. Lasalle St.

Led by local, published writer Mary Ellen Aschenbrenner, the group will discuss skills to develop scenes and characters to enrich their copy. Additionally, writers will share and critique each others’ talents.

Aschenbrenner is best known for her humor columns. She has been published in four states and has worked as a news print and radio correspondent and reporter in Will and LaSalle counties. She also has served as editor of several small newspapers.

“I have learned so much from others who have openly shared their skills. Now it is time for me to pass these skills on to others. In the process, I will benefit from the genius of those who join the group,” Aschenbrenner said in a news release.

Those interested should register at the patron services desk or call the library at 815-498-2440.

“Meetings will be gauged according to the members’ interests and availability,“ Library Director Julie Harte said in the release.
