Sycamore's Gilbert named NI Big 12 East MVP

Sycamore junior Bailey Gilbert was named the Most Valuable Player of the Northern Illinois Big 12 East.

Gilbert helped the Spartans to their first regional championship since 2003.

Joining Gilbert as unanimous first team All-NI Big 12 East selections were DeKalb junior Madelyne Johnson, DeKalb sophomore Brittney Patrick, Sycamore sophomore Lauren Goff and Kaneland senior Kelly Wallner.

DeKalb's Paige Wogen and Alexis Hammond, Sycamore's Taiya Hopkins and Kaneland's Ally VanBogaert and Caroline Heimerdinger were named all-conference honorable mention.
