SYCAMORE – The DeKalb County Community Foundation has applications for the Palmer Family Music Education Scholarship for DeKalb County students graduating high school and going on to study for a career in music. Interested students can access the guidelines and application on the DCCF website at dekalbccf.org. Completed applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. April 1.

Dee Palmer, who was director of the DeKalb Municipal Band since 1948, passed away in November 2011. Palmer and his family have contributed to the musical pleasure of thousands of people in DeKalb County for more than 160 years. The scholarship fund was established in their honor.

The scholarship will be awarded by a committee composed of individuals from various musical backgrounds and representing communities throughout DeKalb County.

Donations are encouraged to grow the scholarship fund and support music education of DeKalb County’s high school graduates. For more information about making a tax-deductible donation to the scholarship or pertaining to the scholarship application, contact Becky Zantout at 815-748-5383 or becky@dekalbccf.org.
