DeKALB – No injuries were reported after a desk fell off a car and struck a second car, causing about $1,500 in damage, DeKalb County Sheriff’s police said.

Both cars were traveling south about 7 p.m. Sunday on Peace Road north of Wirsing Parkway in DeKalb when a desk fell off the back of the first car, hitting the front passenger-side corner of a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, said Gary Dumdie, DeKalb County Sheriff’s chief deputy.

The driver of the Sonic pulled over to report the accident while the other driver kept on driving, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release. The Sonic car was driven from the scene.

Police were not able to get a description of the car since the driver who was hit could not provide one, Dumdie said. If police can locate the driver, he or she would face failure to secure a load charges, Dumdie said.
