SYCAMORE – Police said a 23-year-old Genoa man fled the scene of an accident Wednesday after a semitrailer rear-ended his car and was later found and arrested at his home.

Juan P. Leon, of the first block of Cedar Avenue, was charged with having no valid driver’s license and leaving the scene of a vehicle damage accident. He was also arrested on a Boone County warrant for failing to appear in court on allegations of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said a tractor-trailer was headed northbound on Peace Road north on Sarah Drive at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday when it hit the rear bumper of Leon’s black, 2005 Pontiac. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles had moderate damage, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s news release.

Leon drove away from the scene before police arrived, the news release states. The most serious charges against him are misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail.
