The Kishwaukee College Women’s Basketball Program is once again participating in the nationwide Women’s Basketball Coaches Association breast cancer awareness and fundraising event, Pink Zone, on Feb. 20 in the college gym.
WBCA’s Pink Zone raises money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for breast cancer research. The Kish College event will include several activities designed to create awareness, recognize cancer survivors, and raise funds for breast cancer research.
The women’s and men’s basketball teams will each play a scheduled game against Illinois Valley Community College that evening. Women’s tip-off time is 5:30 p.m. and men’s tip-off time is approximately 7:30 p.m. During the women’s game, silent auction items will be open for bidding which will continue through half-time of the men’s game. In addition, each breast cancer survivor in attendance will receive a flower during a recognition ceremony at the women’s game.
Items for inclusion in the Pink Zone Silent Auction are being accepted through Feb.19. Area businesses or individuals who would like to donate auction items should contact Karen Wiley, KC head women’s basketball coach, at 815-825-2086, ext. 5380, or email@example.com.
