PREP ROUNDUP: Trio helps Barbs to second-place regional finish

The DeKalb-Sycamore co-op gymnastics team had three individuals advance to next week's sectional as the Barbs finished second at the Wheaton-Warrenville South Regional. 

DeKalb had a score of 138.750 and finished behind the hosts.

Barbs senior Meredith Whisenhunt advanced in all five competitions - the balance beam, vault, floor exercise, uneven parallel bars and all-around competition, while junior Alison Morreale advanced in the balance beam, vault, unven parrallel bars and all-around. Freshman Katelyn Nelson advanced in the floor exercise and vault.


DeKalb earns conference win: The DeKalb girls basketball team continued its strong play on Tuesday, earning a 46-38 win over Yorkville in Northern Illinois Big 12 East play.

The Barbs, who will win at least a share of the conference title should they win out, are now 18-7 7-1 in the NI Big 12 East.

T’wolves fall: Marquette topped Indian Creek, 40-34. Josie Diehl had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves, who are now 13-13.

G-K suffers BNC loss: Richmond-Burton beat Genoa-Kingston, 45-28, in a Big Northern East game. Jessie Nay led the Cogs (5-16, 1-7 BNC East) with 12 points. Courtney Winters added six.


Barbs win: DeKalb defeated Kaneland, 76-70.

T’wolves advance: Top-seeded Indian Creek defeated Earlville/Leland, 57-45, to advance to Thursday’s Little Ten Tournament semifinals.
