50th anniversary

Tom and Kathy Banta of DeKalb will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 9 at the DeKalb Elks Club, 209 S. Annie Glidden Road.

The couple was married Feb. 8, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DeKalb. Kathy is a dental hygienist and Tom is a retired iron worker.

They have two children, Mike (Becky) Banta and Anthony (Heather) Banta. They also have six grandchildren, Ryan, Kellas, Cullen, Cole, Kyle and Tyler, and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Angelina.

50th anniversary

Jean and Joe Bjorn of Sycamore will observe their 50th wedding anniversary in Saturday, Feb. 8.

The former Jean Montgomery married Joe T. Bjorn at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DeKalb on Feb. 8, 1964, with the Rev. William Peterson officiating.

Jean worked for Sycamore School District 427 from 1986 until her retirement in 2004, and Joe worked in sales in the food service industry, retiring as a national sales manager in 2009.

They have two sons, Jeff (Erin Fitzpatrick-Bjorn) of Portland, Ore., and Ryan of Menasha, Wis.

Joe and Jean will celebrate their anniversary with the family at Walt Disney World and other Florida locations later this year.

85th birthday

David C. Johnson, of Cortland, will celebrate his 85th birthday on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.

Richard "Dick" Pearson of Sycamore will celebrate his 85th birthday with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore.

Dick was born Feb. 6, 1929. He is retired from Leader Oil and Century 21 and is married to Barb Pearson.

Dick and his former wife, Martha, have three children, Roger (Sally) Pearson, Sally (Gary) Blake, and Ric (Michelle) Pearson. They also have six grandchildren, Mindy (Jon) Solom, Marcy (Brad) Stark, Spencer Pearson, Luke Pearson, Bekken Marty Pearson and Gabe Pearson, and six great-grandchildren.

Guests are asked to omit gifts.
