Northern Illinois (7-11, 1-5 MAC)

at Kent State (11-8, 2-4)

WHEN: 6 p.m. today, M.A.C. Center, Kent, Ohio

RADIO: AM-1360 WLBK, FM 98.9

LAST MEETING: Kent State defeated NIU, 73-64 in overtime, Jan. 15

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN FLASHES: The Huskies took Kent State to the wire earlier this month, but went through a sluggish scoring stretch in the second half which did them in. The Flashes’ Devareaux Manley hit a game-tying 3-pointer with just less than a minute left, and Kent State dominated the overtime period.

However, the Flashes have lost three consecutive league games since them.

Kent State has three players in double figures – junior guard Kris Brewer (12.6 points a game), senior guard Derek Jackson (10.9) and senior forward Darren Goodson (10.3).

OUTLOOK: The Huskies played well and had Kent State essentially beat in the NIU Convocation Center, but now they have to go on the road, where they’re 3-5. NIU has lost four straight in conference play.

Sophomore point guard Travon Baker has come on as of late. He’s scored in double figures each of the Huskies past five games, including a 17-point effort at Toledo last week and a 12-point game Saturday against Buffalo.
