KIRKLAND – A 44-year-old Kirkland man who called police early Monday after a car he was driving went into a ditch now faces DUI charges, authorities said.

Gregg E. Harris, of the 2800 block of Old State Road, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of improper lane usage.

Police said they received a call at about 2 a.m. Monday from Harris, who said he was stuck in a ditch in the south field near the intersection of Route 64 and Schafer Road and out of gas. Further investigation found Harris was intoxicated, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff's Office news release.

Harris posted $300 bail Monday to be released from jail.
