EAST ST. LOUIS — A southwestern Illinois man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for his role in a drug-trafficking ring that prosecutors say involved a judge.

Sean McGilvery was sentenced in East St. Louis federal court on Thursday. Federal prosecutors say former St. Clair County judge Michael Cook was one of McGilvery's regular customers while the judge was on the bench. Cook was arrested last year as part of an investigation that also focused on the cocaine-related death of a prosecutor-turned-judge at the Cook family's hunting cabin.

Cook has pleaded guilty to federal heroin and weapons possession counts. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 26.

McGilvery pleaded guilty in October to federal felony heroin conspiracy and possession charges.
