Northern Illinois University graduate assistant and director of the University Jazz Ensemble Matthew Attfield will host a graduate recital at The House Cafe on Feb. 7.

The show will feature Higher Vibe Music, a group that Attfield has played with for the past six years in New York. The group draws from jazz, hip-hop, funk and R&B genres.

New York City native Gabriel Garzon-Montano will open the show. The show will be filmed and converted into Blu-Ray format and will be available for purchase this summer.

The first 10 people at the door will receive free VIP access, which will include a free Higher Vibe T-shirt and Higher Vibe CD titled “105 Merrimac.”

The show is free. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and Gabriel Garzon-Montano will begin his 45-minute set at 8 p.m. Higher Vibe will perform two sets, one at 9 p.m. and the other at 10 p.m. The show is open to all ages.

The House Cafe is located at 263 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb.
