No holiday emergencies for DeKalb firefighters

Published: Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

DeKALB – DeKalb firefighters did not have any holiday-related incidents during its Red Wreath Program between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

On Thanksgiving, red wreaths were placed on all three DeKalb fire stations to raise awareness about fire safety during the holidays, according to a news release. If firefighters responded to an incident related to the holidays, they would replace a red bulb with a white one.

During the 33 days the wreaths were displayed, DeKalb firefighters logged 469 calls, including 11 fires. None were related to the holiday season, however.

For more information about fire safety, please call the fire department at 815-748-8460.
