SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Pat Quinn's lone rival in the Democratic primary can stay on the ballot.
The top Illinois election official says objections to Tio Hardiman's ticket have been withdrawn.
The State Board of Elections was set to decide the matter Thursday.
Executive Director Rupert Borgsmiller says the action clears the way for Hardiman and running mate Brunell (broo-NEL') Donald to challenge Quinn and Paul Vallas in the March 18 election.
Objectors had challenged the number of petition signatures Hardiman had collected and whether Donald was a duly registered voter.
A hearing officer and the board's attorney both said Hardiman gathered enough signatures and recommended he stay on the ballot.
The two officials split, however, on whether Donald filed a false statement of candidacy about being a registered voter.
