SYCAMORE – An 85-year-old Sycamore man was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital in critical condition Wednesday after he turned left in front of a semitrailer on Peace Road at Route 64, DeKalb County Sheriff Chief Deputy Gary Dumdie said.

Wilbur D. Copple, of the 800 block of Birchwood Drive, was driving a 2010 Buick LaCrosse north on Peace Road about 5:51 p.m.

He turned left and collided with a southbound semitrailer. The LaCrosse spun around and struck a 2011 Ford sport-utility vehicle, authorities said.

The driver of the sports utility vehicle, Kathleen M. Carey, 55, of Kirkland, was treated at and released from Kishwaukee Hospital, according to a news release.

The semitrailer driver declined medical treatment.
