DeKALB — The Cortland Elementary School Parent Teacher Association will meet with school district officials Friday night.

The meeting at 6 p.m. Friday at the Cortland Lions Shelter, 70 S. Llanos St., is open to parents who want to discuss with leaders what their children have experienced in the past year. Assistant Superintendent Doug Moeller, Cortland Elementary Principal Kimberly Lyle, and a representative of Stop the DeKalb County Mega-Dump group wil be in attendance.

The meeting is being held in response to an incident Tuesday in which a Waste Management contractor performing construction at the Cortland landfil released a foul odor into the air that travelled to the school and sent 71 students and staff members to Kishwaukee Hospital.
