SYCAMORE — A representative from Waste Management is slated to speak during the DeKalb County Board meeting tonight.

County Administrator Gary Hanson said the company representative, whose name he did not know, would speak during the public comment period early in tonight's meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the gathertorium of the DeKalb County Legislative Center, 200 N. Main St., Sycamore.

Residents can also speak for three minutes each during the meeting, although public comment on one topic is typically limited to 30 minutes.

A crew of Waste Management contractors performing work at the landfill in Cortland hit a pocket of decomposing garbage Tuesday, sending a strong odor to nearby Cortland Elementary School. The odor became trapped in the school's ventilation system and caused more than 60 students and staff to become ill.
