Letter: Landfill opponent told you so

Published: Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

In the last two elections, I was an unsuccessful candidate for DeKalb County Board from District 9. During both of those elections, I stated my opposition to the expansion of the DeKalb County landfill, also termed “The Megadump.”  One of my opponents stated that this would bring “green jobs” to the county.

I stated that the only things green would be the faces on the children at the Cortland Elementary School, which my grandson attends. I also stated that putting a landfill so close to a school was a disaster waiting to happen.

As of the events on Tuesday, I have only one thing to say: I told you so!

Samuel-Louis Bandy, Jr.

Republican for DeKalb County board, District 9
