Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center is sponsoring an Essay Contest for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. The topic for this annual essay event is “What are the Traditions in Your Family’s Culture?”

Organization, sentence structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation will be considered, as well as original content and neatness. The essays should be between 750 and 1,000 words in length.

Prizes for the contest are being donated by The National Bank & Trust Co. for the top three winners.

Essays can be turned in at Oak Crest, 2944 Greenwood Acres Dr., DeKalb, by Feb. 3. Essays should be put in an envelope with name, school and grade in school on the outside.
