Weather has Waste Management playing catchup

Waste Management is operating behind schedule on trash collection in the area, but officials hope to have everything back on track by Saturday.

Bitter cold temperatures Monday and Tuesday caused Waste Management to fall behind a day for its commercial trash pickup, and a day-and-a-half for its residential pickup.

Crews will collect a day later than normally scheduled, according to a news release from Waste Management.

Commercial pickup resumed Tuesday, and residential pickup is scheduled to start again today, company officials said. The plan is to make up for the delays and to be caught up by Saturday.

Waste Management asks that residents leave trash and recycling containers curbside for collection until the end of the day Saturday, and they will attempt to collect materials as soon as possible. If crews are unable to collect materials this week, service will resume next week on regular service days, the news release states.
